Dr. Lin at IrvineKidsMD would like to turn back time to the good-old days of medicine when doctors knew each patient as a person and not a number.  He would like to take his time with each patient, if so desired by the patient, and not be forced to see 50 or 60 children a day just to survive in today's competitive managed-care system. Our Irvine holistic pediatrician would like to analyze and customize therapy to the specific needs of each child and not be herded into the unscrupulous yet mandated administration of vaccines and antibiotics.  Alternative vaccination schedule can still ensure immunity from devastating childhood illnesses over a more drawn-out time period which can lessen the risk of developing asthma, allergies, developmental delays, and even autism.

Genetic variability is a natural phenomenon in human population.  Mass immunizations with aggressive schedules of combination vaccines can produce devastating consequences in a select group of genetically-susceptible or metabolically-vulnerable children.  Safer alternatives of immunization, such as separating the combination vaccines, omitting irrelevant ones, and even balancing the schedule to only one or two vaccines per visit, should be considered in families who may want to err on the side of caution. 

Common sense and sensitivity should be exercised not to challenge infants’ fragile immune system with massive loads of vaccines during the developmentally critical times of infancy and toddler age.  Vaccines should not be administered when a child is ill, no matter how mild the symptoms.  Vaccines should never be administered concurrently with fevers or use of antibiotics.
